Coronavirus Tips for Equestrians
Coronavirus Tips for Equestrians
1. Stock up on the essentials. You’re going to need to panic buy manure forks, duct tape, and saddle pads. What if you can’t get to the store?! How are you supposed to use the broken fork that no one wants, fix literally anything on your property, or ride in the same color saddle pad?!?!
2. Start washing your hands, but only if you’ve touched other humans. None of us ever wash our hands when we’re at the barn. We all still eat pizza with our hands or touch our face when we have a mixture of dried manure and dirt caking our fingers. This is a totally acceptable hygienic practice. However, if, heaven forbid, you touch another human (ew, am I right?), you should immediately wash your hands. Humans are disgusting, people.
3. Practice good hygiene. You should shower. Yes, you. I know you’re thinking “the smell of horses that lingers around me isn’t an offensive odor!” But B.O. is. And you reek from no-stirrup day.
4. Avoid unnecessary contact with people. This is absolutely an excuse to spend all your time at the barn with your horse and not to interact with the human race. Thank you, Coronavirus!
